Cookies ‘n Convos
Our monthly Cookies ‘n Convos speaker series is a program where youth can sit inside the Florida Air Museum, eat yummy cookies, and listen to a guest speaker with an extensive aviation background. This month’s speaker was Adam Lunn. Adam is a Polk county native that grew up attending ACE summer camps and Sun ‘n Fun. He is currently the Assistant Airport Director at the Lakeland Linder Airport. He is a certified member of the American Association of Airport Executives and was listed in the Airport Business Magazine’s “Top 40 Under 40” list.
Adam spoke about the day-to-day operations of the airport, along with how he worked his way up to Assistant Airport Director. He gave away some Lakeland Linder International Airport-themed SWAG too! After the presentation, the Redbird Flight Simulation Laboratory was opened for families to take their hand at flying an airplane, virtually. Thank you to Adam for his presentation!
Wings ‘n Waffles
The March Wings ‘n Waffles included an astounding guest, Lee Lauderback. Lee Lauderback is an ICAS member with over 22,000 flight hours in aircraft, including the P-51 Mustang. He has won many distinguished awards throughout his career. He is also a P-51 instructor at Stallion 51. You might recognize the P-51 he flies in the annual SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo, “Crazy Horse.” He plans on attending and flying in the 2024 SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo, April 9th-14th.
His presentation was followed by a generous donation from the ICAS Foundation of Bob Hoover’s aircraft aileron. The aileron will be displayed at the Florida Air Museum in the Airshow Performers section. A huge thank you to Lee and the ICAS Foundation for attending and presenting at Wings ‘n Waffles this month.
